Eileen Murphy founded Nadia Gymnastics Club in 1985.

The club was named after Romanian gymnast Nadia Comăneci in recognition of her inspirational performances at the Montreal Olympic Games 1976

The club was based in St Mary’s Secondary School with the kind permission of the Sisters of Mercy.

In 1994 Eileen Murphy opened Nadia Gym, a purpose built gymnastics training facility, fully equipped to train gymnasts to the highest standards.

The facility was the first full time gymnastic training facility in Southern Ireland at that time and boasted a large foam pit with entry from vault, trampoline, tumble track and high bar allowing for the safe training of complex gymnastics skills, a full size trampoline at floor level allowing for many repetitions of skills to perfect technique and a full size dynamic floor area which enabled the gymnasts to perform full floor routines.

In 2018 Nadia Gym was extended further in order to maximise training opportunities for our young gymnasts and also to meet the growing demand
for gymnastics in our community.
